Merchandising is the
department which works like an intermediary section between marketing and
production departments. Merchandising
department also has to do costing and
pricing of the product. Merchandiser is the person who is full responsible to
execute the orders perfectly as per the costing and pricing. So Merchandising
is not only valuable department but also very sensitive.
Following are the main responsibility of a merchandiser
- Communicate with buyers &
others for making good relation
- Developed the samples and new
garment styles
- Garment costing based on the
order
- Price negotiation & order
confirmation
- L/C opening (import section)
- Approval of patterns and
various samples
- Sourcing of raw materials, trims
& accessories for execution of an order
- Identification of bottlenecks
in the process & materials and resolve the same
- Production planning & controlling
- Follow up of in-house preproduction
activities and subcontract work given outside
- Reporting the progress of
orders to the buyer & top management
- Maintenance of proper records
for individual garment styles
- Coordinating with inspection
agencies
- Arrange shipment (Export
section)
